Missy Caulk, ASID - Boyles, Jamestown ( High Point ), NC
Designer Missy Caulk, ASID, of Jamestown , N.C. , has been an interior designer out of Boyles' High Point-area location for the past seven years. Caulk was selected by Boyles to decorate an elderly woman's New Orleans home that was demolished by Hurricane Katrina.
“The owner was expecting to see her house rebuilt, but she had no idea that it would be fully decorated. After the DIY Network walked her though, I got to meet her and say, ‘On behalf of Boyles Distinctive Furniture, we'd like to welcome you home.' That was such a wonderful experience for me and for our company." |

Kathy Gordon - Boyles, Jamestown ( High Point ), NC
Designer Kathy Gordon of Jamestown , N.C. , has been an interior designer for more than 25 years. She has worked for several years in Boyles' High Point-area store. Gordon was selected by Boyles to design several rooms in a family's hurricane-damaged New Orleans home.
“I felt like this was more of a stewardship, like I had been asked to take care of something very important. So I went out and got cards for the family and had everybody at Boyles sign them. Even though I was asked to work on this project, it wasn't just me – it was everyone at Boyles. It was all about that family. It was incredible to see how many people wanted to be involved. Along with the cards, my church made two friendship blankets, one for the family and one for the little girl. My pastor got a bible, and they had it inscribed. We wrapped it all up and left it for the family as a housewarming gift.” |

Tyler Burns, IDS - Boyles Showcase, Hickory Furniture Mart
Designer Tyler Burns, IDS, of Statesville , N.C. , has worked in the Boyles showroom at North Carolina 's Hickory Furniture Mart for the past ten years. He was selected by Boyles to design several rooms in an elderly man's New Orleans home that was damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
“I knew the design was for a single older gentleman, so I just had to pick what I thought would be best. I wanted it to be masculine, no florals, so I used a lot of masculine colors like brick red, gold, brown and black. I knew they had retiled the floors, so I picked out some wool rugs and pulled the color palette from there. My favorite touch was a mirror. It's a big wooden frame that hung vertically, and it bowed out at each corner into a black fleur-de-lis. It was one of those things that I saw at the last minute and decided to throw in, and it ended up setting the tone for the whole place." |
